A MEMBER of the University of Santo Tomas coaching staff has been given a stern warning by the UAAP Commissioner’s Office for his actions after the game against National University last August 24.
A league source said Alvin Grey, who sits on the UST bench as one of the assistant coaches of Pido Jarencio, has been given a ‘stern warning’ by league commissioner Chito Loyzaga after figuring in an altercation after the Tigers’ 61-75 loss to UST last Sunday.
Witnesses said Grey and NU game hero Robin Rono had a heated exchange of words during the traditional post-game handshakes.
The incident didn't escalate further after coaches, players, and even Araneta Coliseum bouncers stepped in to break up the war of words, although an assistant of NU coach Eric Altamirano, Vic Ycasiano, was seen being restrained by players at the height of the altercation.
Ycasiano had previously been meted with a one-game suspension by Loyzaga for a "threatening gesture" directed at University of the East center Charles Mammie during the Bulldogs game against the Warriors in July 9.
