Source: UE duo Mammie, Casajeros hit with two-game ban for 'attack' on Romeo

Source: Mammie, Casajeros banned two games for Romeo 'attack'

According to a source, UE center Charles Mammie was suspended for a play that saw Terrence Romeo land on his foot while taking a three-point shot while Lord Casajeros was caught on video throwing a closed fist at the FEU star during Sunday's double-o

UNIVERSITY of the East stars Charles Mammie and Lord Casajeros are set to be meted with two-game suspensions by the UAAP Commissioner's Office with two important games coming up for the Red Warriors.

According to league sources, Commissioner Chito Loyzaga decided to ban Mammie and Casajeros following a video review of separate incidents involving Far Eastern University star Terrence Romeo during Sunday's match which the Tamaraws won in double overtime, 98-94.

Mammie was suspended for a second time by the league for a play that saw Romeo land on his foot while taking a three-point shot early in the fourth quarter, aggravating an ankle injury he sustained in practice.

It will be the second suspension slapped on the 6-7 UE center, who was hit with a one-game ban for "confronting, pushing, and kicking” Adamson’s Roider Cabrera in a scuffle that occurred after the Red Warriors lost to the Falcons, 71-78, last July 11.

Casajeros, who was given a warning during that same game against Adamson for a skirmish with Cabrera, was banned after he was caught on video throwing a closed fist at Romeo, the source added.

The suspensions on the UE duo are just two of several sanctions and warnings Loyzaga is set announce tomorrow, the source said.

The ban on Mammie and Casajeros also comes at a bad time for the Warriors as they are scheduled to take on title contenders National University on Saturday and De La Salle on September 4.

Mammie is the league’s leading rebounder this season with his 18.6 average for the Warriors, including a season-high 27 against the Tamaraws last Sunday.

Mammie had already been penalized with a one-game suspension by the league in the first round.

For his part, Casajeros is averaging 6.4 points per game and is regarded as the top defensive stopper of the team.
