NATIONAL University coach Eric Altamirano said the lopsided win over Adamson on Wednesday was a sign of maturity for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs held the Falcons to one of the lowest scoring outputs in the league’s long history in a 62-25 decision at the Mall of Asia Arena.
While the result of the game was all but decided as early as the first quarter, Altamirano said he didn’t see his players let up or lose their focus until the end.
“Talagang nakita ko ‘yung body language nila even before the game, they were very focused. Hopefully this is the start of our maturity as a team as well as character,” said Altamirano.
Despite Adamson missing its shots, Altamirano said the team wasn’t thinking about the lead but more on playing the right way.
“We are not thinking about that. Before the game, I told the boys it’s not about the game. It’s how we played. We were focused on how we play with fundamentals and discipline. This type of games will help us in the most important parts of the season,” he said.
NU stalwart JJ Alejandro mentioned the importance of being focused each game.
“Very unpredictable ‘yung season. Hindi puwedeng mag-relax. Another game is another day. Kailangan mong i-set ang mindset mo sa team na kakalabanin mo,” said Alejandro.
