Shaun Ildefonso hoping younger brother Dave joins him and dad Danny at NU Bulldogs

    Jun 8, 2017

NOW that Danny Ildefonso and Shaun Ildefonso are with National University, could Ateneo high school star Dave Ildefonso be on the way to joining them?

Shaun said he likes the idea, and revealed their father had spoken to them about it.

"I don't know. But it would be nice 'yung may tatlong Ildefonso," said Shaun.

Shaun transferred from Ateneo to NU to join his father and two-time PBA MVP Danny Ildefonso, who also joined his alma mater Bulldogs as part of the coaching staff under Jamike Jarin.

His younger brother Dave, on the other hand, has been doing well for the Blue Eaglets, earning a spot in the Mythical Five in UAAP Season 79 and still has a year to play in high school.

"Sabi nga ng dad ko, 'Isipin niyo na if we get the championship, tayong tatlo ng kapatid mo. Magandang tignan di ba?'" said Shaun in an interview with on Thursday after the Bulldogs played in the battle-for-third in the UCBL summer tournament.

"Wala pa sa UAAP na ganun," the 19-year-old Shaun added.

Dave, who stands 6-foot-2, posted averages of 12.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks for the Blue Eaglets last year in the UAAP.

Danny was also part of the Blue Eaglets coaching staff before he rejoined his alma mater. Ildefonso was the face of NU basketball during the years before the SM Group purchased the school.

At the end of the day though, Shaun said it will still be Dave’s decision.

"Dave is making noise. But at the end of the day, decision pa rin niya 'yun. Pero sinasabi lang namin na tignan mo na it would be nice," said Shaun.

Prior to his move to NU, Shaun averaged 10.1 points and 6.9 rebounds in the 2015-2016 season for the Blue Eaglets but saw limited time in college basketball, playing only in five games in a season with the Blue Eagles.
