ADAMSON overwhelmed winless University of the East, scoring a wire-to-wire 79-60 victory on Sunday in the UAAP Season 80 basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Soaring Falcons had a balanced scoring attack, scoring for the second straight time to climb into a tie for fourth with University of the Philippines with a 3-2 win-loss slate.
The Red Warriors dropped to 0-5 slate into their match against titleholder La Salle on Wednesday.
The Falcons built an early 11-0 lead and were up, 23-11, at the end of the first period.
UE was able to slice the gap to seven points, but Sean Manganti started a 10-0 Adamson run capped by a triple by Jerie Pingoy to make it 55-38 with 5:02 left in the third period.
Papi Sarr had 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Manganti had 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
"This is the first time we are above .500. It's so hard playing against your brother especially if his team is struggling," said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren, referring to his match against his brother and UE coach Derrick Pumaren.
Mark Olayon had 16 points, while Alvin Pasaol added 15 points for the winless Red Warriors, who trailed by as many as 19 points.
