A SCUFFLE marred the end of Far Eastern University’s match against University of Santo Tomas on Sunday involving Tigers center Karim Abdul and former Tamaraw Pipo Noundou.

Witnesses said Abdul and Noundou, who was at the stands, exchanged heated words during the traditional post-game shaking of hands after the Tamaraws beat the Tigers, 77-67, at the Mall of Asia Arena. (For full game story, see FEU Tamaraws just perfect after rout of Tigers)

Cooler heads prevented the incident from escalating into a brawl.

The exchange of words, witnesses said, may have something to do with a previous incident during the game where FEU center Christian Sentcheu was elbowed in the mouth.

Sentcheu is Noundou’s cousin.

FEU coach Nash Racela described the scuffle as a “misunderstanding with some people outside the team.”

“Nothing to worry about,” said Racela, who was also seen talking to UST coach Pido Jarencio after the scuffle.
