SAN Beda turned what was expected to be a close match into a virtual workout, dealing La Salle a 79-53 beating to bag its maiden title in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday.
Ryusei Koga scored 18 points, while Pierre Tankoua added 12, Ola Adeogun chipped in 11 and Art de la Cruz had 10 for the Red Lions, who opened a big lead early and never wavered to dethrone the Green Archers.
Jeron Teng finished with 21 points for La Salle, while rookie Andrie Caracut added 10.
“Hats off to La Salle at the start of the game they are composed and we’re not but the good thing is we were able to bounce back,” said San Beda coach Jamike Jarin.
Pierre Tankoua, Ranbill Tongco, Dan Sara, Mychole Sorela and Jayvee Mocon, who came off the bench, combined for 34 points for the Red Lions.
“This is the most important game and right now the bench performed,” said Jarin.
San Beda outplayed La Salle in every area as the Red Lions outscored the Green Archers (79-53), grabbed more rebounds (42-35), and had seven blocks while La Salle had none.
