UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas wasted no time addressing its pressing need at the point, acquiring bluechip playmaker Henry Suico from the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.
It's a big coup for the Growling Tigers which secured the services of the Cebuano guard who was one of the top performers in the past CESAFI 25 juniors basketball tournament.
The 6-foot-1 playmaker attended his first practice on Saturday where team officials rolled out the red carpet.
"Bilib kami sa kakayahan ni Henry at malaki ang tiwala namin na makakatulong siya sa programa natin sa UST," said coach Pido Jarencio.
Averaging 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.1 blocks, Suico helped the Magis Eagles capture their seventh straight crown in his one-and-done season in the Queen City of the South.
He previously played for Ateneo in the juniors division before returning home to Cebu. This move reunites Suico with Kristian Porter who he last played with back in UAAP Season 86 in Katipunan.
Now, he's raring to strut his stuff in Espana as he looks to fill the gaps left by Forthsky Padrigao.
He joins transferees Kurt Laput and Mur Alao in the point guard rotation for the upcoming UAAP Season 89, with Collins Akowe, Gelo Crisostomo, and Amiel Acido all expected to lead the fight for the Growling Tigers.
