CEBU CITY — Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu’s prized forward Joshua Sinclair has commited to join the National University Bulldogs in the UAAP.
A lanky 6-foot-3 forward, Sinclair gave his commitment to NU after his father, Rob, officially met with NU school and team officials led by head coach Eric Altamirano.
Sinclair had practiced for a weekend with the De La Salle Green Archers early this year.
“I just think NU has it all figured out. They have a very good basketball program. Plus they have the course that I’m very interested in taking, journalism,” said Sinclair who won MV honors in leading SHS to the Seaoil-National Basketball Training Center title with a rousing 82-78 win over NCAA powerhouse San Beda in the finals earlier this year.
Sinclair vowed to improve his skills in time for the UAAP wars next season.
“I have one and a half years to get ready for the UAAP season. I'll be going into it twice the player I am now. I'll make sure of it. I have shooting, dribbling, adjusting to college, working on my body and a whole lot of other things to improve on. It's only up from here!” excitedly remarked Sinclair.
Sinclair, who teamed up with current UP Fighting Maroons Janjan Jaboneta to win the Cesafi juniors title last year, said he is proud to have been part of SHS-ADC.
“Even though I'm leaving physically, I'll always have this school in my mind and in my heart. I know that sounds cheesy, but it's the truth. Even though I won't be physically playing for this school or studying at this school anymore, mentally, every game that I will ever play and everything that I do will partly be for the SHS-ADC community.”
“It doesn't matter what uniform I put on, I will always be partly living for you guys. I will never forget the year and a half I have had at this school. I appreciate everyone that has been a part of my life here in Cebu more than words could describe,” Sinclair said.
