APOLOGY not accepted.

Rovelyn Baterbonia, mother of gone-too-soon Ateneo student-athlete Rene Baterbonia, responded early Saturday morning to coach Tab Baldwin's online statement just hours prior, with the family of the former Palarong Pambansa MVP still seeking clarity on what really transpired in the Blue Eagles' tragic team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora.

"Hindi madadala sa apologies ang kamatayan ng aking anak," she said in a strongly worded post on Facebook.

Understandably still hurting, the Baterbonia matriarch remains in search of the truth, as she continues to cope with the loss.

"Gusto kong ipahayag niyo kung ano talaga ang nangyari. Sinasabi ninyo aksidente ang nangyari sa aking anak. Akala ko aksidente pero hindi ninyo ako in-update sa nangyari," she said.

Ateneo's actions

Ateneo has been evasive throughout this week in the fallout of the drowning incident which claimed the lives of Baterbonia and teammate Divine Adili, being limited to statements and only allowing Baldwin to speak on the matter on Friday night.

Baldwin did extend his sincerest apologies to the families and expressed that he "failed as a leader."

"As a coach, I'm entrusted by you, the parents and the families, with first and foremost their well-being. And in this, I feel I failed and I'm sorry. From the depth of my being, I'm sorry," the American-Kiwi mentor said.

Worse, Rovelyn reiterated that she only knew of her son's demise when the University statement came out on Monday, with Blue Eagles management failing to inform her themselves.

"Pinost ninyo sa social media na patay na ang aking anak pero wala kayong sinend na picture na nagpapatunay na patay na ang aking anak," she ended.
