RON Dennison is facing a one-game suspension after being slapped with a disqualifying foul on Sunday but UAAP commissioner Rebo Saguisag he will review videos of the incident.
Far Eastern University’s Dennison was ejected following what seemed to be a hit to the abdomen of University of the Philippines’ Paul Desiderio.
FEU coach Nash Racela called the Office of the Commissioner to ask for a review of the incident, claiming that Dennison didn’t deserve the ejection and insisted Desiderio flopped.
Saguisag said FEU has 48 hours to submit a formal appeal to review the incident.
The disqualifying foul merits an automatic one-game suspension and Dennison could miss the Tamaraws’ next game against University of Sto. Tomas on October 1. A player is also suspended automatically when assessed with two technical fouls or two unsportsmanlike fouls with an intention to hurt.
“Rest assured that during the game, after the game, and within the 48 hours, I will review the tape more so if the parties avail of the remedies, if they can put it in writing, supply it with a spliced tape, we will have to address those issues. But even without that, we will review it,” said Saguisag.
“We have the presumption of regularity. We presume that the calls of the referees are always regular unless there is clear evidence to the contrary. Otherwise, the call of the referees should stand,” Saguisag said.
Dennison had been called for unsportsmanlike foul in the first period.
