Robinsons Retail renewed its 15-year sponsorship of the University of the Philippines men’s basketball team (MBT), reinforcing a commitment to fostering athletic excellence and community spirit that has spanned over a decade and a half.
Robinsons Retail’s journey with the Fighting Maroons began in 2010, when the team posted a 0-14 record.
And because life loves a good sense of humor, they did it again in 2013 with another winless season.
But did Robinsons Retail give up? Absolutely not!
It understood that great comebacks start with tough beginnings, and it stood by State U through every loss, believing that brighter days were ahead.
Unwavering, unflinching, unchanging
Indeed, they were, as in UAAP Season 84, the Fighting Maroons claimed their first championship since 1986.
After following that up with back-to-back silver medals, they remain one of the favorites to win it all in the oncoming Season 87 tipping off on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
And just like the past 15 years, Robinsons Retail will be right there with them to provide needed support towards enhancing UP's training and overall performance.
Present to launch the renewed sponsorship formalized last Wednesday at the Executive House in UP Diliman were UP President Angelo Jimenez, nowheretogobutUP (ntgbUP) founders Renan Dalisay and Agaton Uvero, ntgbUP Chairman Jed Eva, UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development Director Bo Perasol, UP MBT head coach Goldwin Monteverde, Robinsons Retail COO Stanley Co, and Robinsons Retail President and CEO Robina Gokongwei-Pe.
