ALJON Mariano is being eyed by the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA D-League - a road to salvation for a player who came under fire after his poor performance for University of Santo Tomas in the Game Three defeat to De La Salle in the UAAP Season 76 men’s basketball finals.
NLEX consultant for sports Allan Gregorio bared that the team is in the process of finalizing Mariano’s contract with the four-time PBA D-League champion Road Warriors for the coming Aspirants Cup.
“That’s the plan,” said Gregorio. “We will finalize everything within the week.”
Mariano’s impending move to NLEX came after he came under fire for a turnover and an error in judgment which fans blamed for the Tigers' 69-71 loss to the Archers over the weekend.

UST coach Pido Jarencio has since expressed full support for the Tigers forward in a tweet.
For their part, Gregorio said they fully support Mariano as tries to put the bad episode in his career behind him.
“I talked to him. He has to learn to move on. We will support him,” said Gregorio.
The PBA D-League Aspirants Cup is slated to open on October 24.
