THIRDY Ravena's prowess was in full view for Ateneo as it gained headway in day one of the UAAP Season 81 3x3 tournament on Saturday at Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig.
The Blue Eagles, made up of Ravena, Ange Kouame, Matt Nieto, and Matthew Daves swept their assignments for a 3-0 record on opening day.
Ateneo opened its campaign with a 14-11 trumping of Adamson, before following it up with wins over NU (13-8) and FEU (12-8).
Not far behind in the men's division, though, are University of the Philippines and La Salle, which both went 3-1.
Ricci Rivero, playing in his first official UAAP game with the Fighting Maroons, was dazzling in the halfcourt along with Juan and Javi Gomez de Liano, and Will Gozum.
UP clipped NU in its opener, 13-8, and scored a 13-11 victory over FEU. The Diliman crew had a slight hiccup, falling to UST, 12-8, before finishing off the day with a 15-11 win over La Salle.
The Green Archers were also amazing in day one, with UAAP 1x1 champion Jordan Bartlett delivering the goods together with Encho Serrano, Mark Dyke and Christian Manaytay.
La Salle was strong from the get-go, beating Adamson, 15-13, before taking down NU, 12-10, and FEU, 17-9. That loss to UP was the only blemish in the Taft side's slate.
UST sits at fourth in the standings with its 1-2 slate, followed by NU and FEU, both carrying identical 1-3 cards, and Adamson, which has gone winless in both of its assignments.
UE did not join the men's tournament.
