RICCI Rivero was whistled for four fouls in the first half of Game Two of the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball finals against Ateneo, leaving the La Salle star in tears on Wednesday afternoon.
The La Salle sophomore found himself just one foul away from disqualification with still 2:23 minutes left in the second quarter, giving Thirdy Ravena two free throws for a 51-32 Ateneo lead.
The high-flying Rivero was in disbelief over the referee's call and was reduced to tears on his way to the La Salle bench, where he spent the rest of the first half.
Older brother Prince Rivero was later seen giving the distraught Green Archers slasher a pep talk on the bench.
La Salle is looking to extend the best-of-three championship series to a rubber match after a 76-70 win by Ateneo in Game One.
