LA Salle remained mum on the limited playing time given to rising star Ricci Rivero in its 115-86 win over University of Santo Tomas on Saturday in the UAAP Season 80.
Rivero went 3-of-3 from the field, scoring seven points despite only playing in the final five minutes of the match against UST with the Green Archer comfortably ahead.
Prior to the match, Rivero was averaging 10.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals in 27.3 minutes of action.
La Salle coach Aldin Ayo declined to be interviewed by reporters on Saturday following the lopsided win.
SPIN.ph also tried to contact Ayo as well as Rivero's management team Virtual Playground on Tuesday but both parties did not respond.
Nevertheless, Rivero and the rest of the Green Archers are definitely not taking things lightly in their Wednesday match against University of the East at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Green Archers are currently in second with 4-1 while the Red Warriors are at the bottom of the team standings with a 0-5 card.
La Salle hopes to put the issue behind and turn its focus on playing with the same intensity against another winless squad in UE.
"We played unselfish basketball the whole game," said La Salle assistant coach Miggy Solitaria during the postgame interview against UST.
The Red Warriors suffered their fifth loss after bowing to Adamson, 79-60, on Sunday. Mark Olayon and Alvin Pasaol led the way for UE with 16 and 15 points each but that didn't stop the Red Warriors from being winless.
