RICCI Rivero said playing limited minutes on Saturday was a non-issue to him, saying that he will continue to look for ways to earn the trust of La Salle head coach Aldin Ayo throughout UAAP Season 80.
The Green Archers rising star played only in the last five minutes in their 115-86 win over University of Santo Tomas on Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, but he insisted that he completely respected the decision of his coach.
"Actually, ako, wala naman sa akin 'yun personally. Coaches decision siguro, ang tingin niya, mas fit 'yung iba maglaro and siguro ready to play," said Rivero.
"It's not about me wanting to play. Basta maglaro kami as a team, manalo kami sa team, and we stick together," added the former La Salle Greenhills standout. "Sa akin, walang issue 'yun. Kaya ako pumunta sa La Salle kasi I know coach Aldin. Alam ko na I trust his plans for me and the rest of the team."
In his first game after the UST match, Rivero had eight points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 16 minutes of play against University of the East on Wednesday.
Rivero vowed to work even harder as the season progresses, aiming to make the most out of his minutes for the benefit of the team.
"Ako naman, every time na pinasok ako, every time I was given a chance to play, I make the most out of it. Sana maganda mapakita ko throughout the season and mabalik siguro 'yung trust ni coach," said Rivero.
