RUMOR: Brothers Ricci and Prince Rivero as well as good friend Brent Paraiso are no longer with the La Salle Green Archers.

FACTS: The rumor mill has been buzzing about brothers Ricci and Prince Rivero as well as good friend Brent Paraiso leaving La Salle's fold for some time now, but no official word has come out, either from the Green Archers camp or the Rivero family.

A tweet from radio jock Tin Gamboa amped up the talk on Thursday.

“What’s this I hear about several DLSU players getting kicked out of the team?????,” Gamboa, a big sports fan, wrote on her @suzy899 Twitter account.

According to various sources, the Green Archers have decided to drop the Rivero brothers as well as Paraiso prior to the team's campaign in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL), where La Salle has confirmed to participate after initially begging off.

    The reason?

The supposed reasons vary, depending on who you are listening to. One source insisted the trio violated school policies. Another claim the Rivero brothers are looking to transfer to another school.

Confirmation has been hard to get so far. Riveros’ father Paolo has not responded to SPIN.ph requests seeking comment. Neither are the two La Salle representatives in the UAAP board talking; same with newly designated Green Archers coach Louie Gonzales.

One source insisted the Riveros are transfering to - of all teams - La Salle's rival Ateneo, which beat the Green Archers in the last UAAP Finals. That rumor, however, was quickly shot down by a top Blue Eagles official in a talk with SPIN.ph, on the condition that he not be named.

The Ateneo official, however, bared he heard a rumor about the Riveros moving to University of Santo Tomas to rejoin Aldin Ayo, who had overseen the brothers' progress in two seasons at La Salle.

Still, none of those speculations have been confirmed at press time.

But despite the absence of an official word, several developments point to tension in the relationship between the Riveros and La Salle, beginning with the Green Archers' decision to initially pull out of the PCCL after Ayo's exit.

There was also Rivero's surprise appearance at Gilas Pilipinas practice, just days after it was reported that La Salle had requested that none of its players be named to the players' pool for the 2023 Fiba World Cup in Manila.

Nothing is certain right now, but better brace for a development about this soon.
