RHENZ Abando rejoins University of Santo Tomas as it battles National University Saturday in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
It has been an emotional week for the Sto. Tomas, La Union native and the Growling Tigers after poaching rumors surfaced over the past week.
But coach Aldin Ayo said that Abando is not just back in the saddle but is in it for the long haul.
"In-affirm na niya sa amin na committed siya sa UST," said Ayo.
UST, with a 6-5 win-loss record, now resumes the quest to make it to the Final Four.
Curiously, NU is one of the schools rumored to be trying to lure Abando, making the 2 p.m. tiff an interesting one.
The Bulldogs are also fighting for survival as one more loss takes them out of the playoff race.
La Salle (5-5) and FEU (5-6) also seek to boost their respective stocks when they clash at 4 p.m.
The Tamaraws got the upper hand, 66-55, over the Green Archers back in Sept. 18, and L-Jay Gonzales and company look to sweep the season series.
Justine Baltazar, meanwhile, is expected to lead the way anew as La Salle aims to tighten its grip on the fourth spot.
