REYLAND Torres will be cleared to play for University of the Philippines in the all-important Game Three of the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball Finals on Sunday.
UAAP commissioner Xavy Nunag downgraded the penalty due to the nature of his second unsportsmanlike foul, a clear path infraction against La Salle winger CJ Austria with 2:58 left in the game.
He was ejected for his second unsportsmanlike foul.
The clear path foul, due to Fiba rules, fall under Category 4 which is described as "an illegal contact made by a player from behind or to the side of an opponent who is moving towards the basket."
La Salle equalized the best-of-three series, 76-75, on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, UP assistant coach Eric Gonzalez was warned for conduct unbecoming of a coach after he was seen hoisting a whiteboard with the words "acting" written on it.
Gonzalez was reprimanded to not incite the crowd and was cautioned that repeating the same act would merit a technical foul or an ejection.
