AS the dust finally settled on a whirlwind transfer saga for now-University of the Philippines ace Rey Remogat, it’s now safe to say that the UAAP Season 86 Mythical Five member has found a home to push his aspirations forward.

A lot has been said about his sudden departure from the University of the East over a month after their sixth-place finish. And as his high-profile move caused a stir among fans online, Remogat settled the score once and for all on what led to his transfer from Recto to Diliman.

All for championship gold.

Winning culture

“‘Yung pinaka-dahilan talaga (ng paglipat ko sa UP) is gusto kong makaranas ng championship” Remogat told reporters in UP’s contract signing event with BPI led by longtime Fighting Maroons patron Robina Gokongwei-Pe.

“Mas na-feel ko rin before na UP yung makakapagbigay sa’kin ng magandang environment at culture ng team.”

But life as a Fighting Maroon, and everything tagged along with the experience of representing UP, is one which will take some time getting used to — just like UP’s partnership launch with BPI following its merger with Robinsons Bank at the university’s Executive House on Monday.

“Unang-una, nakakapanibago. First time kong maka-attend sa mga ganitong event.

As shared by UP head coach Goldwin Monteverde, part of the Fighting Maroons’ offseason overseas plans include trips to Serbia and Korea ahead of UAAP Season 87.

While forced to redshirt the forthcoming season to serve his residency year, Remogat found not only a home in UP but a family, too.
