REY Remogat may be in the midst of a five-game losing streak with the UE Warriors, but he has already made great strides in proving his worth among some of the UAAP's finest aces today.
UE's second-year guard currently sits fourth in the MVP race with 73.714 SPs and leads the league in assists with 7.3 dimes per game.
Bar his own family, no one is prouder of Remogat's recent feat than his head coach Jack Santiago who shared the unlikely story of how he found himself donning the red-and-white.

"Ang number one na pinaka-masaya diyan, second to his family, is siyempre ako kasi ako ‘yung kumuha sa kanya last year," said Santiago.
"Nag-walk-in ‘yan dito sa amin nu’ng time ng pandemic when he was still in high school. Sinabi ko sa kanya na ‘dito ka na.’ I guaranteed him a playing spot. And when the two Paranadas (Kyle and Nikko) left, I told him ‘this is your year, this is your team,'" he added.
From an impactful two-game cameo by the end of Season 85 to becoming the face of UE's offense this year, to say that Remogat has come a long way is quite the understatement.
"Right now, just imagine na two games lang nilaro niya last season. Now, look at him. He’s already I would say ‘made’ na siya. He belongs to that elite group du’n sa ibang mga teams like sina (Evan) Nelle, (Mark) Nonoy, and (JD) Cagulangan.
"Imagine, nandyan na siya. Sabi ko lang lagi sa kanya na ‘wag lalaki ulo niya. But of course, second to his family, I will be the happiest guy dahil nakikita ko ‘yung nangyayari sa kanya," Santiago said.
Delighted and grateful
For Remogat, individual accolades might not be at the forefront of his goals with UE but he is nonetheless thankful for the trust and support of his team in what has been a meteoric rise to stardom.
"Sobrang sarap sa feeling kasi para sa’kin, hindi ko naiisip ‘yung mga ganyan eh — ‘yung mythical (five) or ‘yung number one sa assists. Lagi ko lang ginagawa ‘yung maglaro sa sistema ni Coach Jack (Santiago).
"Kaya sa narinig ko kay Coach Jack, sobrang grateful ako na kahit hindi ko ina-aim ‘yung mga ganung bagay, masaya sila para sa’kin na nakukuha ko ‘yung ganun," said Remogat.
