UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas has lost another player as incoming sophomore Jun Asuncion moves to Mapua.
Tiebreaker Times was first to report the story.
The 6-foot-2 gunner is the latest to leave as the Growling Tigers exodus continues after a controversial training camp in Sorsogon that broke quarantine regulations.
Asuncion, however, was not part of the Tigers’ bubble training in Sorsogon. He was one of three players who opted to pass on the offseason training, along with Sherwin Concepcion and Christian Manaytay.
The 21-year-old winger only played one game in his rookie season, although has made the most of the preseason preparations with his stellar showings in the 2019 Philippine Collegiate Champions League and in the 2020 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup.
Asuncion joins a young Cardinals crew under coach Randy Alcantara, linking up with gunner Paolo Hernandez.
He is eligible to play four years in the NCAA, starting in Season 97.
CJ Cansino has left UST and transferred to UP, while also out of the squad are Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso and Ira Bataller.
