VHORIS Marasigan felt he was partly to blame for La Salle’s woeful three-game skid before breaking out when it mattered most against perennial rival University of the Philippines.
The 22-year-old shooting guard was remorseful for drawing a one-game suspension at a time when the Green Archers were already losing bodies left and right to injuries.
Instead of seizing his shot to be the ‘next man up,’ Marasigan knew he let his teammates down instead.

“Sa sobrang daming nawala sa amin, sobrang nagsisi ako nu’n kasi parang two games na rin ako nawala kasi sa NU, na-disqualifying [foul] ako, 1st quarter ka lang or 2nd quarter ata ‘yun,” the 6-foot-2 guard told SPIN.ph.
“Nung na-suspend ako, ang daming pumapasok sa isip ko nu’n na nu’ng mga talo namin, parang ako ‘yung sinisisi kasi nawala ako. Kulang-kulang na nga kami, nawala pa ako.”
Marasigan owned up to his actions in front of the team, promising a comeback bigger than the setback that sidelined him.
And he delivered.
With 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists in just 27 minutes, he helped the Green Archers hold off the Fighting Maroons in a timely performance that made up for lost time.
“Sabi ko naman sa mga teammates ko na sorry talaga sa nagawa kong kasalanan at pagbalik ko, babawi ako sa kanila,” he said.
“Sobrang nakakalakas ng kumpiyansa ‘yung pagbawi ko ngayon kasi hindi ko akalain na ganu’n ‘yung matutulong ko sa team dahil nu’ng mga past few games namin, parang hindi masyado ako nakakatulong sa team.”
Through 12 games, Marasigan is averaging 6.83 points, 2.92 rebounds, and 1.17 assists in roughly 14 minutes per outing.
But even when the numbers don’t jump off the page, Marasigan says he’ll always bring the spark La Salle needs to keep its winning fire burning.
“‘Yung pagiging energy guy ko, kailangan ko laging mai-contribute sa team. Kinakausap ko rin ‘yung mga teammates ko na laban lang kasi hindi pa naman tapos ‘yung laban."
