REGIE Boy Basibas has a lot of reasons to have a productive season for University of Santo Tomas.
Back after missing a full season with a groin injury, Basibas is exected to deliver after the departure of key players from last year.
The Tigers also suffered a blow when Embons Bonleon injured in his left hand.
“Kailangan namin mag-step up lalo ’yung mga ka-puwestuhan namin. Si Bonleon, malaking bagay sa amin,” said Basibas, who made his UAAP debut in 2014.
Now 22, the product of Leyte is eager to make his mark and is confident the Tigers can go deep in the tournament.
“Babawi po ako,” said Basibas, who wants to taste the feeling of being in the Final Four.
“’Yung focus namin, maka-Final Four. Kaya po,” he added.
Basibas stepped up for UST in its victory over University of the Philippines on Saturday.
The 6-foot-4 forward had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Growling Tigers, including a triple that started an 8-0 run on their way to victory over the Maroons.
“Masakit po kasi siyempre 38 points,” said Basibas.
“”Yung coach po namin, gusto namin makabawi kasi natalo kami sa La Salle. Wag daw po kami nagpapatalo kasi bababa kami. Binigyan kami ng kumpiyansa ng mga coaches,” he added.
