FAR Eastern University extended its winning streak to six games, beating University of Santo Tomas, 59-48, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 79 basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Tamaraws tightened its grip on second place with a 7-2 win-loss record, while Tigers absorbed their fifth straight loss.
With its record at 2-7, the Growling Tigers are now last in the eight-team standings.
Joe Trinidad topscored for FEU with 16 points but was the lone double-digit scorer for the Tamaraws, who never trailed and led by as many as 13 points.
Head coach Nash Racela, however, was not pleased with the Tamaraws’ effort against the lowly Tigers.
“At this stage of the tournament, we should be concerned about our improvements as a team. My concern is us believing that we are already a good team because we have been winning,” Racela said.
Louie Vigil had 18 points for the struggling Tigers.
