FAR Eastern University coach Olsen Racela was in "Rah-Rah" mode once again after the Tamaraws claimed a big 63-60 victory over Ateneo on Wednesday to finish the first round of the UAAP Season 81 eliminations on a high note.
The PBA legend screamed in delight and threw his fist in the air as the Tamaraws completed a comeback from a 15-point first-half deficit to claim another giant scalp, just days after beating previously unbeaten Adamson.
"Kailangan eh," he said in jest when asked about his post-game demeanor, reminiscent of his days as a tireless point guard for San Miguel and Purefoods in the PBA.
Videos of Racela's post-game celebration after an 88-85 overtime win over Adamson over the weekend went viral, but the former Ateneo star guard said he started letting it all hang out way before that after a 90-65 defeat to lowly University of the East.
"Nag-start 'yun nung UE game. After the game, I showed my emotions pero di niyo na lang nakita," he said.
FEU has yet to drop a game since then, stringing up three straight wins to close out its first-round campaign with a 5-2 record.
Racela doesn't want to grab credit, saying he is only being himself.
"We need that for the players, to motivate the players. Ganoon naman ako eh. Even as a player, ganoon na ako. What you see now is my personality," he said.
