PRINCE Rivero said he saw the “true La Salle team" in a win over University of the Philippines that broke the Green Archers' three-game losing skid in the UAAP on Wednesday.
Rivero had a double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds to help the Green Archers take a 72-68 win over the Maroons at the Big Dome and tie National University for the fourth and last berth in the playoffs.
One of the most consistent players for La Salle this season, the second-year forward said he was glad to see the Green Archers play with a sense of urgency.
La Salle coach Juno Sauler also pointed to his team’s heart.
“What I saw was we played as a team — a true La Salle team. I saw my team and everyone of us sharing. Like our heart, we gave it to each other, we played for each other.”
La Salle still must win its final game against Far Eastern University - and hope that NU loses to the Tamaraws - to catch the last bus to the Final Four, but Rivero said the Green Archers can overcome the odds if they continue playing for each other.
“It’s like we can say to each other that I can take a bullet for you. Parang ganun,” Rivero said.
