PIDO Jarencio on Thursday broke his silence on the vacant head coaching post at University of Santo Tomas, saying he's eager to help turn things around for the Tigers if given the chance.

The Tigers' performance in UAAP men's basketball nosedived over the last two years under Boy Sablan, spurring a clamor for the return of the popular former UST coach and player who led the team to a UAAP championship in 2006 and finals appearances in 2012 and 2013.

Jarencio made it clear he wants the job.

"Kung gusto nila ako, wala namang problema. I'll take that position, open naman ata 'yung position. Kung may doubt ang UST sa akin, kung ayaw nila sa akin, wala namang problema, nasa PBA naman ako," said the outspoken coach, who is currently in charge of GlobalPort in the PBA.

"Pero I'm willing to help. Alam ko naman ang formula dun at sikreto dun e. I was there for eight years," he added. "Yung eight years na program ko, 'yung last two years ko nasa championship (series) pareho. We fell short pero 'yung point na andun ka lagi, iba 'yun."

UST hasn't reached out to him, Jarencio said, but the former PBA guard assured he will accept an offer if it comes.

"Wala, wala. Pero andito lang ako. I'm here," he said, adding he can take on dual roles as coach of both the Batang Pier and the Tigers. "If other coaches can do that (coach in both the PBA and UAAP), why can't I?"

If given another chance, Jarencio said he will lay out a two-year plan for the Tigers. He promised to steer the team back to the Final Four on the second year.

"Sa unang taon hindi ko maipapangako kung mag fa-Final Four. Pero sa pangalawa, siguradong Final Four yun," he said.

Various reports have linked Aldin Ayo, Bonnie Tan, and even Bal David to the UST coaching job. Jarencio said he will never turn his back on his alma mater.

Reports say UST is set to tap La Salle coach Aldin Ayo. But while there is still a cloud of uncertainty as far as the job is concerned, Jarencio is making himself available for a UST comeback.

"Ako I'm willing to return to coaching as long as UST wants me. Kung di naman nila ko gusto anong magagawa ko?" he said.
