ATENEO coach Bo Perasol issued a personal apology to school president Fr. Jett Villarin and top backer Manny V. Pangilinan for what he termed was his "un-Atenean-like behavior" after the Blue Eagles’ emotional UAAP men’s basketball game against rival De La Salle Green Archers on Sunday.

In his message to both Pangilinan and Fr. Villarin, Perasol apologized for confronting an alleged heckler from La Salle as he walked out of the playing court of the Smart-Araneta Coliseum minutes following the heartbreaking 66-64 loss of the five-time defending champion to its longtime nemesis.

“The better part of me should have avoided the confrontation by turning my other cheek. As it turned out, I was caught off guard, and the worse (not yet worst) part of me prevailed,” read part of Perasol’s apology, a copy of which was furnished to Spin.ph.

“In retrospect, I thought that the action that really ticked me off was the blatant display of arrogance and disrespect against my players and my person which I can’t just normally turn a blind eye and deaf ear to.”

Still, Perasol believes he should have not let his emotions get the better of him since he’s representing one of the elite learning institutions in the country.

“My actions may have put Ateneo in a bad light and I’m sorry to have acted the way I did,” said Perasol in ending his apology.
