PAUL Desiderio believes there is nothing wrong with the University of the Philippines squad as a whole even as it struggles to meet the high expectations for UAAP Season 81.
The senior guard isn't too worried, however, even though UP, highly-rated in the preseason, has slipped to seventh place with a 1-3 record after bowing to Adamson.
“Wala naman problema sa team, siguro ang problema sa individual, tulad ko, yun nga kumbaga nagsstruggle ako the past few games hopefully makuha ko yung rhythm ko in the next few games,” said Desiderio.
For most parts of the game, Fighting Maroons looked like the scary team that played in the opener against the UE Red Warriors but faltered in the end game against an in-form Falcons squad.
For the veteran guard, as tough as that loss was, things like that happen.
“Sayang but at the end of the game, winning or losing, basketball talaga may mananalo at may matatalo, andun nalang kami sa natalo, sana makabawi nalang kami next game,” said Desiderio who definitely knows about winning and losing in the final second after a handful of game winners last season.
Against the Falcons, Desiderio scored just six points on 3-11 shooting in 28 minutes of action. In four games, Desiderio is just averaging 10.7 points per game, still a respectable output but definitely below his standards.
The Cebuano star already has something in mind for him to be able to bounce back: he needs to be more aggressive.
