BOBBY Ray Parks will be sidelined for up to two months after sustaining a torn ligament in his right hand but is expected to be ready for National University’s buildup for the next UAAP season.
No less than the reigning UAAP Most Valuable Player from National University confirmed his injury on his Twitter account after being examined by top orthopedic surgeon Jose Raul Canlas on Monday.
“Just finished meeting up with Doc Canlas, results was a torn ligament in my right hand:(..out for two months :( #sucks #needprayers,” Parks wrote on his account @ray15parks.
When a follower asked how he sustained the injury, Parks only answered “hit the board.”
Sought for comment, NU head coach Eric Altamirano is confident that the injury of Parks, who is more of a left-handed shooter, will not affect his play in the coming campaign.
“Yes, he is injured but nothing serious,” said Altamirano in an SMS message to Spin.ph.
Though the injury will take a long time to heal, Altamirano expects Parks to be ready when the Bulldogs begin their preprations for the next UAAP season set in the middle of this year.
Parks was coming off an MVP season where he averaged 21.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks in leading the Bulldogs to the Final Four.
