Far Eastern University downed University of the Philippines, 56-52, in the other match to cap the first round.
The Lady Tamaraws tied the Tigresses and last season's runner-up Ateneo from fifth to seventh places at 2-5, while the Lady Maroons fell in last spot with a 1-6 record.
