JACK Daniel Animam had 25 points and 22 rebounds as two-time champion National University routed La Salle, 93-77, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 79 women's basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Animam also had four blocks in 32 minutes of play as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 12-0, two wins away from clinching an outright finals berth.
Gemma Miranda had 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Afril Bernardino came up with 21 and 12 as NU secured a twice-to-beat advantage if the tournament goes on to play a Final Four.
The Lady Bulldogs also extended their three-year unbeaten run to 44 games.
The Lady Archers were in the game only in the first 10 minutes before the Lady Bulldogs put them away with a 28-point second period.
La Salle absorbed its second straight loss, dropping to a tie with idle University of the East in second place at 8-3.
The Lady Archers will face the Lady Warriors on Nov. 5.
Camille Claro had 21 points, five boards and four assists, while Chay Vergara contributed 13 points, five rebounds and two assists for La Salle.
University of Sto. Tomas boosted its Final Four bid, while eliminating last season's runner-up Ateneo with a 59-42 victory.
Shanda Anies had 19 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Sofia Felisarta chipped in 13 points and seven boards. Jhenn Angeles added 10 points for the Tigresses.
UST rose to 5-7, trailing fourth-running Adamson (5-6) by half-a-game.
The Lady Eagles bowed out of contention with their ninth loss in 13 matches.
Hazelle Yam scored 13 points and nine rebounds, while Aiko Tomita and Kat Guytingco had 10 points apiece for Ateneo.
