DEFENDING champion National University breezed past the Adamson Baby Falcons, 75-50, to seize the early lead in the UAAP Season 75 juniors basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on a rainy Saturday.
The Bullpups notched their second straight victory, with Ralph Atangan, last season’s Finals MVP, leading the way with 19 points and eight rebounds. Ralph Busa and Hubert Cani chipped in 14 and 10 markers, respectively.
In the other match, La Salle-Zobel defeated University of the East, 78-67. Henri Subido paced the Junior Archers with 24 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
La Salle-Zobel bounced back from its opening day loss to NU and improved to 1-1 along with Adamson. The Junior Warriors, meanwhile, lost their second consecutive match.
The juniors matches were ongoing when league officials announced the postponement of the seniors basketball games later in the afternoon due to inclement weather.
