NATIONAL University coach Eric Altamirano says lack of discipline led to the Bulldogs’ first loss of the season.

NU was in control against La Salle and led by as many as nine points only to falter in the final period, where they got outscored, 23-12, while struggling against the Green Archers’ vaunted trapping defense.

“Obviously, the fourth quarter did us in,” Altamirano said. “I thought we lost our discipline in the fourth. We got out of the game plan.”

The Bulldogs committed 29 turnovers, while failing to contain Archers star Jeron Teng.

The Archers senior had eight of his 23 points in the fourth quarter, including back-to-back hits in a 6-0 La Salle run that enabled the Green Archers to erect a 60-54 advantage.

“We had costly turnovers and we weren’t able to stop Jeron Teng. That basically did us in,” said Altamirano.

The Bulldogs now look to bounce back when they face Adamson, which is coming off a morale-boosting victory over Ateneo.

“We really have to move on and focus on Adamson,” said Altamirano.
