His papers still incomplete for him to be eligible to play in Season 76 of the UAAP, NU big man Alfred Aroga opted to sit out the Bulldogs' opening game against defending champion Ateneo. Jerome Ascano

ALFRED Aroga, the Cameroonian center of National University, will miss the Bulldogs’ UAAP men’s basketball game opener against Ateneo on Sunday.

No less than Aroga confirmed the development to Spin.ph as he was still in street clothes minutes before the game while the rest of the Bulldogs are already in uniform and warming up near their dugout.

Aroga skipping the Bulldogs’ marquee game against the five-time defending champion Blue Eagles came after the UAAP board held an emergency meeting on Saturday to discuss his eligibility status along with Charles Mammie of University of the East, and Ingrid Sewa of Adamson.

Mammie was cleared to play by the league following the board meeting, while Sewa and Aroga have been allowed to play but risks forfeiting the game after the first round, the deadline given to them to submit pertinent documents that will make them eligible to suit up this season.
