COACH Nash Racela doesn’t mind the ongoing UAAP Season 78 finals between University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University was momentary bumped off in the news by Aldin Ayo becoming the next mentor of De La Salle after steering Letran to the NCAA championship in Season 91.
Racela said it’s still business as usual for the two proud schools in the best-of-three title series, never mind if the La Salle coaching change was the one magnified in the limelight.
“Sanay naman kami na people don’t talk about FEU,” said Racela, who appeared unaffected when asked if he felt the UAAP finals is not drawing much attention in the wake of the coaching carousel within the Green Archers’ camp.
“They talk about La Salle, Ateneo, and now Letran. That’s fine with us. Hindi na namin tinitignan ‘yun,” said the FEU mentor.
But while Ateneo and La Salle have been for a long time the premier rivalry in college basketball, and arguably, the two most talked about schools by cage fans, FEU and UST have also proven they are worthy of the public’s attention based on the results of the title series’ first two games.
“I see a lot of articles about coach of Ateneo or coach of La Salle but ganun talaga. They tend to talk about them (La Salle or Ateneo) and that’s fine with us,” said Racela.
“The two schools (UST and FEU) showed that there are schools other than La Salle or Ateneo,” he added.
