MATHEW Montebon reached for the stars in the offseason when he said Adamson had what it took to go as far as the finals in UAAP Season 88.
With the Soaring Falcons’ wings seemingly clipped after four losses in their first five games, Montebon thinks his far-fetched goal still lies within reach.

And landing seventh in the standings midway through the first round won’t convince him otherwise.
“I’m not gonna lose faith in my team,” Montebon told SPIN.ph.
“Rough start to the season, but we have a lot more games to go. Hopefully, we can put it together and then go on a run.
“I’m not putting anything out of reach.”
But first, Montebon gotta be better
The only way now for Montebon, who is in his fourth year with Adamson, to shrug off a concerning start is to first take a close look at the mirror and understand that his best for now is far from enough.
“Me being a veteran, and a lot of the other players, we gotta do better,” he said.
“We’re a young team this year. A lot of responsibility lies on us. Me and the rest of the veterans, we gotta look at ourselves in the mirror and we gotta do more than we’re doing now.”

For a team that had promising glimpses of success in the offseason, showing just bits and pieces of brilliance won’t cut it if the Soaring Falcons were to make a difficult yet possible flight from the bottom half all the way to the Final Four.
“Obviously, I’m not satisfied if you look at our record. There’s a lot of room to grow. There’s a first time for everything and this is a learning process,” he said.
“I just have continue to do more and do better than what I’ve been doing.”
