ADAMSON is determined to gain the respect of the rest of the field as the Falcons’ campaign in UAAP Season 78 winds down.
Coach Mike Fermin said the team had a mission going to its game against University of the Easr Saturday, believing the Falcons haven’t earned the respect of other teams in the league despite getting a fair share of stunning victories this season.
“I think we haven’t gained the respect of the other teams,” said Fermin during the postgame press conference. “When we won against UP, nabalikan agad. Tapos ‘yung panalo namin sa La Salle, pagdating sa FEU, tambak kami.”
“I told the guys that in order to gain respect, we need to win this game,” said Fermin.
Win the Falcons did against the Warriors, 74-71, to raise their record to 3-9 as their season comes to an end.
The Falcons won after nearly squandering a 20-point lead that was cut down to a single point before hanging tough in the end.
“UE is not a so-so team. Sabi ko sa kanila, we just have to be composed. Kapag naka-run sila, dapat maka-basket din tayo,” said Fermin.
“Nagkanya-kanya kami. Nawala kami sa sistema na gusto naming mangyari,” he said. “But give credit to the boys pinush nila sarili nila in the end game.”
Following the win, Fermin said the Falcons are out to finish their season stint with a victory when they face University of Santo Tomas on Wednesday.
“If possible, we will try to win against UST,” he said.
