CAN Mike Phillips make it three in a row for La Salle?
The Green Archers banger has taken pole position in the statistical points (SPs) race at the conclusion of the first round of the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball tournament.

Phillips earned 84.429 SPs after La Salle's first seven games in leading the Taft side with 13.3 points, a league-best 15.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists, making him the frontrunner for MVP honors after onetime teammate Kevin Quiambao won it the last two seasons.

Hot on his heels is University of Santo Tomas big Collins Akowe with 84.286 SPs, making him the pacesetter for Rookie of the Year - and Best Foreign Student-Athlete award, if he overtakes Phillips.
The Nigerian neophyte averaged 16.3 points and 15.3 boards, as he's been the rock for the Growling Tigers in the middle.

Far Eastern University playmaker Janrey Pasaol sits at third with 80.429 SPs from 18.3 points, 6.6 assists (league-best), and 4.0 rebounds.
Following him is University of the East forward Precious Momowei with 80.0 SPs from 18.1 points, 14.4 boards, 3.0 assists, and 1.4 blocks.

Completing the top five is National U winger Jake Figueroa with 77.429 SPs from 15.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks.
Rounding out the top 10 of the SP race are league top scorer Nic Cabanero of UST (76.571 SPs), defensive demon Mo Konateh of FEU (74.429 SPs), Ateneo one-and-dones Kymani Ladi (67.571 SPs) and Dom Escobar (64.0 SPs), and UST court general Forthsky Padrigao (63.667 SPs).
