MIKE Nieto of the Ateneo Blue Eaglets won the UAAP Season 77 juniors basketball Most Valuable Player title in dominating fashion.
Nieto amassed 75 statistical points (SPs) to cop the MVP crown by a mile, according to a statistical report by Imperium Technology and Smart Bro.
Nieto’s closest pursuer Mark Dyke of National University had 65.8571 SPs after 14 games.
Like the seniors tournament, statistical points are the only basis for the MVP winner in the UAAP basketball tilt.
Nieto, who played for the Philippine national youth team, averaged team-highs of 16.4 points and 11.9 rebounds in leading the Blue Eaglets to a 14-0 record in the elimination round.
By sweeping the eliminations, the Blue Eaglets moved to the finals outright armed with a thrice-to-beat advantage.
Nieto, along with his twin brother Matt, recently committed to stay with Ateneo to play for college.
Dyke, Matt Nieto, Aljun Melecio of De La Salle-Zobel, and Frederick Tungcab of Adamson will join Mike Nieto in the Mythical Five.
