FOR three years, Mat Edding watched from behind the bench, as Adamson kept being a thorn on the side of opponents.
At long last, in his Soaring Falcons debut in the UAAP Season 89 opener, the 6-foot-1 swingman was part of the problem the Soaring Falcons posed.
Edding fired six of his 10 points in Adamson's 21-5 spurt bridging the third and fourth quarters that erased a once-13-point deficit and erected a 54-51 lead. It would prove to hold until the final buzzer.

In doing so, he finally delivered on the promise he made three years ago when he committed to moving up from the Baby Falcons to the Soaring Falcons.
Time is a battle
The Zamboanga city was a key cog in Adamson juniors' playoff team in Season 85 with averages of 10.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.5 steals, He was quick to pledge his staying put in San Marcelino, but was kept on the training pool for the next two years for, as coach Nash Racela coined it, 'developmental purposes.'
In Season 87, Edding was actually all set to suit up for Adamson only for a preseason plantar fasciitis injury to keep him out of the lineup yet again.
Still, he kept working, especially with the kinks adjusting to Racela's system.
"Si Matmat is a rookie, but he's actually a veteran rookie for us, and we know he can contribute right away," the veteran mentor said.
Fast forward to today, and indeed, the now-22 year old is a Soaring Falcon in the UAAP.
Better believe he'll make sure it was all worth the wait.
