AFTER Tab Baldwin, Ateneo men's basketball team manager Epok Quimpo is also set to tender his resignation to give the school and authorities a free hand in the investigation into the deaths of Blue Eagles Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.
Sources told SPIN.ph that Quimpo, who was in Guam to support his 11-year-old son in a basketball tournament when the incident happened, had no knowledge of what transpired during the Aurora training camp or the drowning of the two players.

“But to give the investigators more independence without the risk of any influence, Epok is resigning from his Ateneo duties,” said the source. “Epok just arrived in the country this morning (Monday). He has been in Guam since Monday last week.”
“Epok is one of the school’s major links to the team’s chief backer in Boss MVP (Manny V. Pangilinan),” he added.
The resignation will be effective Monday, the source said.
Quimpo's resignation will follow a similar move by Baldwin, who has come under fire since the drowning incident.

“Epok is the team manager. But he has management above him and Tab below him. If naka-leave si Epok, sino sasalo ng work nya? Kayo na sumagot if may kinalalaman siya,” said the source.
The source also bared that Ateneo won't skip the coming UAAP season.
“For the kids, other players who prepared hard, the team will not skip the coming UAAP season. Wala naman sila kasalanan dun,” he said.
What about the rest of the coaching staff?
“They are all under the head coach. So, I don’t think they have full control on what is implemented during their team training and conditioning activities,” he said.
It is not yet known if Ateneo athletic director EM Fernandez, probably the highest ranked team official in the venue during the incident, will also tender his resignation.
