DE LA Salle scored first blood in the UAAP Season 76 women’s basketball Finals after whipping National University, 72-48, on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Archers outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 22-7, in the final quarter to take Game One of the bets-of-three title series. They are now a win away from completing a sweep and winning their first title since 2002.
Game Two is set on Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
“It was a great defensive effort on our part. Going to this game, NU is the no.1 offensive team,” said La Salle coach Tyrone Bautista.
“Mindset kasi ng mga players ko na mas diinan (defense) namin sa second half. That’s what we did. Tinuloy lang namin `yung pressure naming.”
