DE LA SALLE and National University clash on Sunday in a game that could become the turning point in their Final Four bid in the UAAP seniors basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“It’s a big game for both teams,” said La Salle coach Gee Abanilla.
The Green Archers beat University of the Philippines, 76-69, on Thursday to make headway in the race for semis slots against NU, which they defeated in the first round in double overtime 87-86.
The Bulldogs, meanwhile, gained a reprieve when the UAAP board decided that their controversial game against Far Eastern University be replayed on September 23.
They Bulldogs are still below the cutline, but NU coach Eric Altamirano remains positive about the team’s campaign.
“I’ve never experienced a team with so many setbacks but I believe that something good is in store for us,” Altamirano said.
In the first game, Ateneo looks to bounce back from its shock 77-79 loss to University of the East when it takes on Adamson at 2 p.m.
“You can’t really predict how the year is going to go, but we are still in first place and we have a game against Adamson, we will just try to bounce back,” Black said.
The Falcons are coming off a heartbreaking 83-79 defeat against University of Santo Tomas last September 1.
