LA Salle continued to load up for its future, securing the commitment of Mapua's do-it-all forward Jonnel Policarpio.
La Salle insiders confirmed that the 6-foot-4 Kapampangan has verbally committed to the Green Archers despite still having a year left in his high school career with the Red Robins, with him also corroborating the news.
He joins fellow Pampanga-born players Justine Baltazar and Encho Serrano in the green-and-white.
Policarpio, 18, has been a rock for Mapua in his two seasons in Intramuros, named Rookie of the Year in 2018 as he played a key role in the NCAA Season 94 championship run. He upped his game the following season, posting 19.7 points and 11.7 rebounds and was the leading MVP candidate, but the Red Robins missing out on the Final Four with their 6-12 record only led him to settle with Mythical Team and Defensive Player of the Year nods.
Policarpio can suit up for La Salle in UAAP Season 84.
He is the latest to join the revamped La Salle program under coach Derrick Pumaren following University of the East's CJ Austria, Perpetual's Emman Galman, and TIP transferee Warren Calara.
Tiebreaker Times was the first to report the development.
