Aldin Ayo shrugs off criticism over move fielding odd five in Archers' rout of Tigers

    Oct 26, 2016
The Green Archers have won 12 of 12 games, and the coaches are still looking for ways to improve.

COACH Aldin Ayo shrugged off criticisms and said he did not mean to offend anyone when he fielded an odd mix of players during La Salle’s blowout win over University of Sto. Tomas.

Ben Mbala, Abu Tratter, Jason Perkins, Julian Sargent and Mark Dyke were sent in and drew jeers — there was no natural playmaker in the mix of starters and second stringers, the unit apparently drawing attention because it looked loaded with imports.

But the only foreign player on the squad is Mbala, who is from Cameroon.

"I think I was criticized last game because of the five. I was just doing my job. Kung ano man yung desisyon ko dun wala akong ininnsulto, nagtatarabaho lang ako," said Ayo.

"I'll make sure yung team ko may bagong ginagawa at may naa-achieve kami. At magkaroon din ng impression sa ibang teams na di lang kami small ball e. We can go big, we can go small."

Ayo noted that despite scoring 12 wins in as many games, he continues to work hard to improve the team, exploring options by mixing and matching players during actual games.

"Anyway, everybody is entitled to his own opinion. I just want to explain myself na ginagawa ko lang trabaho ko. Gusto ko lang manalo," he said.

“Whatever it takes, gagawin ko. Ilagay ko puro point guards, kung mananalo kami gagawin ko yun... kung pwede lang utility, kung mapapanalo namin, gagawin ko e," he added.
