Kiefer Ravena offers Player of the Year award to someone dear to him. Find out who the person is

KIEFER Ravena was named SMART Player of the Year during Thursday night’s Collegiate Basketball Awards at Kamayan Edsa, an honor he shared with someone very dear to him.

Although he profoundly thanked his parents when he received the award, Ravena went on and dedicated it to his late grandfather, Danny Crisologo, father of his mother, former national women’s volleyball player Mozzy Ravena.

“I dedicated this trophy to my lolo who recently passed away. For him din itong award na ‘to,” said Ravena during his brief speech.

Ravena was given the accolade for being named the UAAP Season 77 Most Valuable Player and at the same time, for acting as role model to the youth.

He was one of the outstanding players from the UAAP and NCAA who were feted during the annual event organized by the men and women who regularly covers the country’s two major college leagues.

The Ateneo star was likewise named member of the Collegiate Mythical Five where he was joined by Earl Scottie Thompson of University of Perpetual Help, Ola Adeogun of San Beda, Mac Belo of Far Eastern University, and Jeron Teng of De La Salle.

Recipients of major awards include Eric Altamirano of National University and Boyet Fernandez of San Beda, who were named as UAAP and NCAA Coach of the Year, respectively.

Anthony Semerad of San Beda and Alfred Aroga of NU were honored with the Pivotal Players honor for their outstanding play during the Finals, while Glenn Khobuntin of NU, Kyle Pascual of San Beda, and Almond Vosotros of De La Salle won the Super Senior trophy.

Troy Rosario of NU was given the Dr. J Breakthrough Player plum, while Jiovanni Jalalon of Arellano and Gelo Alolino of NU were recipients of the Impact Players award for their contributions to their team’s success by winning the UAAP cage title for the first time after six decades.

Baser Amer of San Beda meanwhile, was named ACCEL Court General for his leadership.
