ATENEO top gun Kiefer Ravena was more relieved than anything else after coming out on top in a grindout, double-overtime game against National University on Sunday.

Ravena bled for his 19 points against top NU defender Pao Javelona and looked totally exhausted in the end, but the Blue Eagles' 74-70 victory made all the pain go away for the reigning UAAP MVP.

“It’s six games. It’s emotional for me," said Ravena after Ateneo's first win in its last seven meetings against the Bulldogs. I didn’t know what to feel after. It’s tiring, exhausting. Pero parang nawala lahat with that win."

“Kaya pa isang quarter,” Ravena said in jest.

Ravena shot just 7-of-26 from the field including a woeful 1-of-10 clip from three-point range while going up against Pao Javelona, who is fast becoming known as a ‘Kiefer stopper.’

Ravena was seen chatting with Javelona during the second overtime, but he was glad to have the final say in this match-up which he described as a ‘nightmare.’

“Pao is my kababayan,” Ravena said when asked about the on-court chat wit Javelona. “We were just chatting around, saying that we are both tired.

“He is a great lockdown defender. It was a nightmare against Paolo. But again, the most important thing is the final score,” said Ravena.

Ravena admitted it was difficult to go up against Javelona, the reason he savored every basket scored against the NU defender.

“I think every basket was special. He really gave me a hard time. Kapag nakaka-shoot ako sa kanya, parang ang sarap ng feeling especially that three-point shot that sent the game into overtime,” said Ravena.

Ravena, however, isn’t celebrating the victory for much longer, with a game against University of the East on Saturday.

“I don’t want to look at the stats anymore. We can’t enjoy that long because we have a game against UE, which is having a lot of momentum," he said. "We have to let this win sink in and take it when we play the big games again.
